I've been thinking about House's leg pain. The Mind is a powerful thing and while I doubt the Ibuprofen will ever be enough to control House's leg pain, House's need for it to work combined with his fear of losing his mind again may make it work better than is would have otherwise.

This was posted in the spoiler thread but I don't think it is really a spoiler.

You know, if you can't post it without the entire post being in spoiler bars? Then maybe it belongs in the spoiler thread instead. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is intended more for what has already aired.

That is just it, I don't know if this would really be concidered a spoiler which is why I have asked the mods to rule on it and hopefully remove the spoiler bars or my post if it does not belong. But did not want to offend Spoilerphobes if it is consider to be one. Sorry if that was not clear in my post.

I think we're far enough into season 6 to say that I really like it so far.
I admit I was very anxious about the way TPTB would handle House changing, but I really really appreciate how they have portrayed it so far. Subtle little steps; he is still very much House, but just that tiny bit more open. I especially like the way they have followed up on the situation with Cuddy, she seems like her old self again, and they had some (almost) mature discussions between them.
I also realized that I like the new team, perhaps more than the old one, but it also great seeing Chase (and to an extent Cameron) again.

So yeah, I'm definitely not disappointed and look forward to where they are going with some of the storylines.

I don't think they're far enough in the season ... but at least I can say this past few episodes were better than anything they did during the last two seasons.

I never liked the new team. I really don't get what's their purpose. Well, I did like Amber and Kutner (and some of the competition)... well they killed them (for Kutner, it's ok since the actor needed out).

Chase was and is my favourite character since the beginning of the show. I even like him better than House most of the time. And of course I think Chase/House scenes are the best one in this show (sorry Cuddy and Wilson fans, Chase is far more interesting for me)... so I'm really glad to watch him again. And only for that, this season is very good.

Now, we will see what's coming next... but my experience of this show is not reassuring me.

So here's my theory, for what it's worth.

This series has never done transitions well. The big moments work better in retrospect as part of the overall whole than as individual episodes. The individual episodes -- including "Teamwork" and "Known Unknowns" for the subject of this season -- have kind of been clunkers because they're trying to jam all this information and/or transitional elements into one package. It's like they set it up and then kind of whiff it. (This is a show that does better with steady offense, rather than the grand slams, with certain exceptions, if you don't mind the baseball metaphor. Both a series of base hits and a grand slam will with a baseball game, but grand slams are the showier aspect.)

Vogler was an interesting concept, but failed in execution, except in hindsight for showing us more about the House, Wilson and Cuddy dynamic. Tritter was the same thing. The Stacy arc had some good moments but a whole lot more of individual episodes that didn't quite work.

That's one reason I dread the "big" episodes. I'd been dreading the "Cameron Leaves" arc just because I knew it could drop like lead balloons, but at the same time I wanted to get past it just because it always feels like there's more energy once they get past the big plot point and can move forward with whatever story they want to tell which first needs that plot point resolved.

So it feels to me -- or perhaps I'm just hoping -- that "Ignorance Is Bliss" starts that next run of shows that plays out the big picture story that they're telling in Season Six, now that the plot point of Cameron leaving is behind them.

Or maybe I'm just happy to have Taub back.

I do hope you're right. I can tolerate the occasional back-to-back episodes I didn't like as long as they get the season right on the whole. And so far this season is my favorite since S3.
